19th Century

P ousada do Amparo is located on the oldest street in Olinda, where local artists gather to display their works, ranging from modern or naïve to impressionist or even back to classicism

T he Inn has been created by Kleber Dantas and Ângela Castelo Branco, who used material from local demolished buildings dating back from the earliest colonial times. There they maintain an art gallery - a permanent display of works by several Pernambuco-native painters.

T wo town-houses make up the Pousada do Amparo. One of them houses the kitchen in authentic plantation-style and the Flor de Coco Restaurant, built of old hardwood decorated with oak casks and Dutch swords, and serving guests delicious regional specialties.

T he hillside setting of the garden offers a rare view of the center of Olinda and Recife. Surrounded by a colorful and attractive tropical garden, where birds harmonize with two inviting swimming pools, one of which is for children only. In the basement, a bar in the midst of stone foundations which go back centuries in time, remind one of an ancient wine cellar.

L odging in this refuge of art and good taste is a true privilege due to the limited number of apartments available, 11 in all.
